: Hi friends. This question may sound strange.but here it is:

: Hi.
: I got a 79 maverick (here in brazil they made it until 79 - always with the small bumper) with a 302,crane mechanical camshaft (278/288) roller rockers, performer rpm heads, holley 650 double pumper, msd 6al,msd billet distributor, msd ss coil and hedmann headers.
:
: I think this combo will get +- 350 hp.
:
: Since my 79 structure is very poor, i was thinking about getting a sub-frame connector.Do i really need it??I can have a custom made, that will bolt in all the way from the differential to the front floor pans.
:
: Other thing, when you start to drive those old cars hard, the body starts to get damaged. You start to find flaws on the body (like small waves,or small dents) when you look at it.I am not talking about structure damage.I am talking about a door, or a rear quarter.
: IF i use a sub-frame connector, this body damage will stop??Or get minimized?
:
: I will only use the car at street with radial tires. But driving it VERY hard.
:
: what do you think about it?

: The sub-frame connector will improve my traction?
:
: thanks

Your dilemma sounds similar to mine. The motor I'm installing is reportedly up around 400HP and I was thinking of subframe connectors as well. One day I jacked the car up without the motor and transmission in it, and the whole thing started to make creaking noises. If the body is going to twist that much without any weight on it, I figure it definatly can't hurt anything to put connectors in to avoid the pretzel twist. Mine are going in this coming week. Tim
