If you have a 8" already. stay with it. It all fits up and can be beefed up to handle more horsepower then most people think.
If you insist on a 9" rearend, just get one out of a 68 to 72 big Ford/Mercury car. Just have it narrowed and use a posi/detriot locker center section with about 3.50 gears. Bad thing about a 9" for a Mav is it adds about 100 lbs to her. And unless you really need that kind of brute strenght stay with the 8". The 8" is very underrated, and personally I believe it's stronger then the 8.8" I know lots of people will disagree with me but mostly because the 8" has never been looked at as a preforance rearend, even by Ford.

: Well two weeks from now i will take my car to U.S. Automotive Performance so they can begin the process of rebuilding the stock block to 300hp. yippee... but then i have to do other stuff.. like handling performance, and then of course looks and etcetera etcetera...
: BUT FIRST.... i need a beefier rear end. I know i have seen the post before, but what kind of car should i go to the junk yard for and what should i check out in the rear end?? and is it something that i with my little knowledge could do over a weekend or two, or should i just have the shop do it also??? thanks guyz.!!
: jason.
