An 8-inch should be able to handle the horsepower of your new 302 if you are running an automatic trans. The problem I found was I really wanted a Traction-lok and 8" tls are really hard to find. I used a 9" basically for that reason, plus I got rear discs. In the end though a 9 inch is heavier and the 8 inch can handle the torque. If you decide on a 9 inch 1975-1980 Granada/Monarch units bolt right in, no mods neccessary and they actually increase tire clearance where most wheels need it most- the inside. You could narrow a big car 9 inch but it'd be mroe expensive. -CP

: Well two weeks from now i will take my car to U.S. Automotive Performance so they can begin the process of rebuilding the stock block to 300hp. yippee... but then i have to do other stuff.. like handling performance, and then of course looks and etcetera etcetera...
: BUT FIRST.... i need a beefier rear end. I know i have seen the post before, but what kind of car should i go to the junk yard for and what should i check out in the rear end?? and is it something that i with my little knowledge could do over a weekend or two, or should i just have the shop do it also??? thanks guyz.!!
