Stock V8 Mavericks have about 1/4" thick reinforcements on the shock towers, while the 6-cyl cars don't. The 351W will fit better into a 6-cyl car. So yes, his car might be different than 'everyone elses who has a 351W in it." The only car I've seen that a 351W fit in nicely was a 6-cyl car. -CP

: Why don't you just ship it to me, I'll put it in my Maverick. Or is your's different from everyone else's that has a 351W in it. Sell the 8.8" and get a beefed up 8" or new 9". So what if it was free, maybe there is a good reason they wanted to get rid of it. If the engine and trans require all this trouble what else is left? You haven't even checked the throttle linkage, raditor hoses, wiring, heater hoses, etc.
: So have you talked yourself out of this swap yet? I put a 460 into my 82 Merc Zephyr with a C-6, headers and a 9" back in 92. Before it was a common thing. Quit your whining and start wrenching.

: : i measured everything out and it will not fit in between the shock towers. i need about 3-4 inches on both sides. will i be able to get them hacked up enough at a shop to be able to fit this block in with the headers?

: : also the rear i know it is going to need mods to fit into my 72, but what do these mods entail? i got my 8.8" for free, so i wanna use it.

: : otherwise everything else looks like it is going to line up and bolt in. i was hoping that today would be the day to drop this in, but apparently i am going to have to wait a little bit longer. maybe another week or two. thanks for all you input and help.
