: Just a quick question on reinserting the valve body...i seem to be having a bit of trouble with getting the shift linkage lined up on the manual valve and i don't want to force anything (especially since it's all aluminum). Is there a trick i can use here? My Chilton's isn't especially helpful.
: Also, what are the rules for tightening the bands? Something like...tighten all the way down, then back off 3/4 turn?
: Thanks for any help you can offer!!

: If you have the trans out of car try to keep as level as possible, the slide valve is always wanting to move. Just take your time and line it up with the linkage and slowly lower the valve body. It takes a little practice sometimes. Basically the same if working under car. Also don't over tighten the retaining bolts, about 20inch lbs is enough. otherwise you can warp the case. Bands should be adjusted by snugging up the screw until it just stops with slight pressure on it. I usually back them off one full turn then lock down the nut. Many books have different specs. on this, but I found one turn works best for me.
