FORD Nut,

Point well taken. If you read my other replies concerning this thread, you will find an explanation as to why I did what I did. By the way, I am currently looking for a similar original car to turn into a street/strip car that can be campaigned in NHRA's Stock division, and bracket raced on weekends without having to completely gut the car like I had to do with this one. If I can find one with a decent front end and body, I'll be in business, and yes...I'll drop in the 302 that came out of the car that has the big-block now.

And no, I didn't expect everyone to like the car, nor do I really care if anyone likes the car except myself. But if you've ever attempted to do something like this, you can at least appreciate the amount of time and effort that goes into a project like this. Attempting something like this is not for the weak of heart. I will continue to post pictures of the project as it progresses, and if someone wants to look, I encourage them to do so, and if they don't, then that's alright too.

Heaven forbid someone not go with an original part on one of these cars! What about these guys who are talking about swapping in 351's and 428's, what about the 8.8 rearends and all of the Granada parts swappers? Personally, I'd like to see more of this kind of thing. Granted, they're all Ford parts, but they may run into a problem shoehorning the things in place, just like I did, and If I can give any advice, I'm going to.

You'd be amazed at how many "Ford Guys" have looked at the front end on my car, and tried to figure out what is different. I usually give them a bit before I tell them about swapping the entire front clip on the car. Their next question is "how big a job was it?" and then "did you record any of the measurements?" So there is interest in the project, and all of my buddies at the track are dying to see what the car will do when completed.

And for the record, I thought this was a basically Maverick site, and my car is still a Maverick, albeit a highly modified one. And when I get to the track and commence kicking their asses, it's not going to be relevant what kind of powerplant the car had, the only thing they're going to remember is that it was a Maverick that left the footprint.

: My, My, were sensitive. You put your car on a basically FORD (Ford being the Key word here) message board & you expect everyone to like it? Nobody cut you down personally, some of us just dont care for Chevy motors in Fords. Its called an opinion & we are all entitled to one. I agree that it is your car & you have every right to do what you want, but, to think that everyone will agree with you is a bit unrealistic. I'll be the first to admit Chevy's are easier & cheaper to build, So if easier & cheaper is what your after, Congratulations, You've suceeded!!! BTW, You should laugh at this rather than get offended.
