: my car has never been messed up enough to have new towers put on. it got hit once in the front, but only the bumper and quarter panel was replaced. these 351 swaps you have seen were they from a 200 I6 motor to 351W motor? did they use motor hugging headers or regular headers?

I don't know the answer to either question. I never asked which six was replaced and I don't remember the headers well enough to comment. Unfortunately, the maverick chassis leaves a bit to be desired and a small accident up front could move the shock towers around but I still agree with you that probably not enough to create the measurement problem. I just thought of this. The 351 windsor is a little taller therefore the widest part of this engine will sit higher in the engine bay. Where are you measuring between the shock towers. As you know the towers "angle" outward as follow them up to the top of the shock. Is this it? just a thought
