: I know this isn't mav related but several of you seem to be pretty familiar with Ford products so I was hoping you could offer some advice. My folks are travelling around the country in a 1994 motorhome with a Ford chassis and a 460 gas engine. This is the first time they have been days away from home and in the heat of texas and colorado, etc. Several times during the trip the vehicle started coughing and sputtering like it was running out of fuel. It would loose power and start slowing down. After setting for a few hours it would start up ad run fine with plenty of power again. They had the fuel filter replaced which didn't fix it. The local Ford dealer wasn't able to detect a problem as there wer no codes in the computer nor did the intermittent problem occur while they ran it.

: Any idea what might cause this? Could it be bad wires, cap or rotor?

I have a friend who has a 460 equipped motor home, class A. He had the same trouble last year in the Rockies. Solution: Turn off engine for a few minutes, recrank the engine whereas the computer resets itself for the higher altitude. That's all there was to it. Hope this is of help.

Jerry
