Makes sense. I've never been too active in the Ford vs. Chevy thing (my other vehicle is a 67 Chevy Truck). For me it's always been more of an old vs. new debate. I won't buy anything made after '73, and I don't think there was a single unatractive car made in '69. Although Chysler has recently started designing some cars with some character, most new cars all look the same to me...

: Comick,

: It was just the laws of economics man. I already had the motor and trans from another car, the '71 Nova that also donated the front-clip. I also have a spare engine, and lots of spare parts, so it was logical to just use what I already have around.

: I decided to build my Mav, because I wanted something different. I've always loved the way that they look, and I feel that they make a fine looking race car. My dad and brother both own serious small-block Vegas, and there are always so many Chevy cars at the track, not to mention the cookie-cutter Mustang GT's. I've always kind of strayed from the pack, and my Mav was a logical progression.

: This is probably the fourth Maverick or Comet that I've owned over the years. This particular car was bracket raced for several years in street tire classes around the area where I'm from, and I had a lot of success with it. I had to stop racing it because it had been involved in an apparently major accident before I got it, and the front-end eventually got to where it could no longer be lined up. It wasn't bad going down the track or anything, but it was going through front tires faster than Grant went through Richmond.

: I decided to park it, until I got the money to fix it up right, and that was probably 5 years ago. I refused to get rid of the car, knowing that someday, I would turn it into a full-on race car. That day is now.

: See y'all at the track.

: : What made you decide on a Chevy motor? If I was inclined to put in a Big Block, I would be thinking 428.
