I just completed the 351 W conversion 3 weeks ago. I used Total Performance Headers and did not cut the shock towers. It is much easier to remove the two motor mount bolts and jack the motor up to change a couple of the spark plugs than it is to cut the shock towers. I also was able to use the complete accesory setup (Timing chain cover, water pump, belts, brackets etc.) off of the 302 that originally came with the car. The Braket for mounting the alternator was drilled in 2 places to fit the 302 or 351. The thermostat bypass hose has to be changed due to the inch taller deck height. Feel free to post another message if you need more info. Runs great, definitely a worth-while swap...

: i plan to drop a 351W into my I6 72 maverick and was wondering if anyone knew how far into the shock towers i should get cut? anyone have an idea how far to cut in or even more helpful a diagram or picture of one that has been cut? thanks for the help.
