It seems that those hole are for the grease zerts....but those are the largest holes I have ever seen cut into a shock tower on a Maverick.
On my 72 that I am working on, there were holes already cut when I got it. I am enlarging the holes, and then covering it up with a rubber plug for a factory look. I am using 1 1/2" plugs that are off of a Mustang to plug the holes with.

: I have noticed that a previous owner has cut holes in the lower front part of both shock towers, apparently to gain easier access to grease fittings? Has anyone else ever seen this done? Is it good, bad, or indifferent? Thanks.
