Hello Maverick/Comet enthusiasts!
It’s almost time for the 2nd annual Maverick Mini-Meet in Norwalk Ohio, at Norwalk
Raceway Park, held in conjunction with the Fun Ford Weekend. Held on July 14th
through the 16th.
If you attended last year you know what a huge success this show turned out to be. We
had 21 different Mavericks or Comet show and that’s not including all the Mavericks
that where racing that weekend! If you didn’t get to make the show last year, I can tell
you that we all hope to see you there this year, then hopefully we can add to the
number we had last year.
Show Details: The car show has two days of awards presentation. Saturday is a
judged car show. I will be giving out awards for our mini-meet that will be judged by at
least two impartial judges that will not have a car in the show. Also Bill Alexander, the
president of Fun Ford Weekend will have 4 special Maverick/Comet awards their
judges will vote on. On top of that all Mavericks and Comets will also be eligible for the
Compact car class that will also be judged by the Fun Ford’s judges.
Sunday is participant and spectator voting, there are about 15 or more classes that
ANY car eligible for. And let me tell you, the awards that Fun Ford give out aren’t cheap
by any means. Do to the impressive turnout last year I intend to have much better
awards for our mini-meet as well.
The Maverick/Comet club will have designated parking just for our cars so we are sure
to be able to be parked together for everyone’s benefit.
Facility: It’s beautiful! The cars will be parked on GREEN grass and the paths in
between are all paved so there is very little if any dust! I’m sure we all can appreciate
that.
Very nice concessions and all the ice cream you can eat for a dollar! Actually it’s a
dollar for a pound of ice cream. I don’t know about you but that’s all I can eat. :)
Nice rest rooms and showers available, all state of the art with motion sensors, a very
nice feature.
The track and racing is second to none in the area, the bleachers are high so you can
see the whole track all the way down the quarter mile!
Specials attraction: every year there is a Jet Car and a Funny Car that shoot it out. Also
they have the True Street Shootout which is very exciting.
They have magic shows and games for the children as well.
I hope we can make this another unforgettable year at Norwalk. And let me thank
everyone who participated last year, because without you the show is nothing. I can’t
tell you how proud it made me last year when the Mav’s and Comets kept rolling in!
