: in the back of the drum, u should see a small hole at the bottom. there is a gear in there. on mine, i spin the gear up and the brakes get tighter. in order to loosen it, you have to look in there and find the tab holding the gear in place. push the tab off the gear and then you should be able to spin the gear downwards and loosen the shoes off of the drum. after that its not too bad, just make sure you do one at a time so that way you can have one to reference when you are putting it back together. hope this helped and good luck.


Also on the rear brakes make sure the parking brake is off. If there is rust or crud around the hub, middle of the drum, you can put some light oil on there and hit the back of the drum on the edges, turn it so you don't hit the same place everytime. Don't hit too hard or you could crack the drum.
