From just the rust you mentioned, and it being a 4-door, I would say this car isn't worth restoring. Thr rust around the shock tower area...if you can "see" it, is worse than you think. It's all the rust you can't "see"....

: I have come upon what appears to be a very solid '71 4 dr comet for sale. It has had some rust repair in the back wheel wells and inside the engine compartment near the shock towers but NOT where they mount. What should I look for besides the obvious rust? When I tell people about the car it usually gets a laugh but I think the car has strong potential. A straight 6 with 50k orig., all stock, fair interior, etc. The carb could use some attention but the car runs fairly well.Who carries parts? body panels? interior pieces? I'm looking for a hobby car that I can purchase at a decent price and not be SOL when it comes to finding what I need to keep it on the road. Can you help?
