If the car is in good condition cosmetically, I'd say go for it. I agree, a lot of reproduction parts are non-existant, but I've generally had no problems finding all of the mechanical go-parts to keep these cars running.

It should be pointed out that not everything is reproduced for many cars. Even '60s Mustangs don't have everything reproduced (though they have much more than most). There are ways around it though. If you need some tips or help finding that not-reproduced widget, let us know. There's also the Maverick Connection:

137 Valley Drive, Ripley, WV 25271
(304) 372-7825 or 1-800-889-9322 mavcon@citynet.net
$5 Catalog

I also have a link for a place that does carry some reproduction sheet metal for the Maverick and Comet: http://www.showcars-bodyparts.com

They don't have much new steel (most of what I've seen is actually reproduced in fiberglass), but they will also locate any used metal you may need, right down to frame rails and tail lights.

Good luck,
Joe

PS--if you decide to not buy the car, could you post where it's located? Thanks!
