: What did you do to your 302 to get into 15.5?I would be very happy to pull a 15 sec. run in mine :)
--------------------
not a whole lot. i bought a freshly rebuilt 302 from a fellow i knew who had the fastest maverick, id ever seen.
unfortunately, we never knew what cam was in it, so it was kinda guesswork. im sure it would have been considerably faster had i known what parts to mate with it.
after that, i had a weiand intake and an edelbrock 500 cfm carb, mallory unilite ignition, and thats about it.
i had tried two other carbs, but could not make either work well, for all situations. the 1st was a used carter 625cfm which leaked, the 2nd was an out of the box holley #1850. the car was actually faster with these 2 carbs than with the smaller edelbrock 500.
to its credit...IF the holley was consistent, and the ford kickdown and secondaries would work every time, i would have kept it.
however, the holley turned out to be a dud. requiring constant maintainence. sometimes it would go, but usually it didnt.
the little edelbrock, kicked hard everytime, without fail.
other than what i mentioned the car was bone stock. even had stock rearend and no headers.
you shouldnt have any problem getting your maverick into the 15's either.
good luck
