Ther performance aspect of fuel injection is negligable, although economy and drivability are much improved (especially in the cold), a properly tuned carb can whup a TBI setup and is far easier to adjust at the strip. You see some Multi-port systems at the drag strip but never TBI because it is basically a carb with a brain. It still dumps fuel in the center of a manifold and performance is no better than a carb. -CP

: Holley has a number of bolt on TBI units witch any of them would make
: us all take our carbs and trash them. At least for street use. Fuel injection has
: made great improvements in the last 10 years and offer great performance,
: smooth operation in most climates, and just for a kicker they get reasonable mileage.

: : I need a base line on what jets to use in a 1850 holley. I bought it used off of a 383 Chevy motor so I think it is jetted to big for my mild 289. Can anyone give me a place to start. I know nothing about carbs or tuning. The plugs are black and wet. The engine has about 50 miles on it since the rebuild. It also quit running twice today once like it was running out of fuel(while driving at speed), and the other as I was pulling out from a stop. Too much fuel? Any help would be great thanks in advance. Russ
