From what I've seen, insurance companies don't care if your Maverick is a 6 or V-8 because they don't consider these cars to be "performance" cars...

: Swapping a V8 into the car should not raise your insurance rate at all. Insurance agencies go by the VIN#, and it will still be a 6-cyl car for them. From what I've seen, Maverick insurance rates are pretty cheap, but if the car is totaled you'll get very little n return. Mine is insured for $5000 value, which adds to my premium but I'd hate to get it stolen and be handed $800 or something... -CP

: : First of all, I am starting with a 200 block and not a 250. The original plan was just a simple rebuild of the 200. My son asked about a 302 or the 289 I have but I told him "NO". He is 16, insurance in Texas is hell for a V8 in the hands of a teen-age male and the price of gas is eating me up with my car, his car, and my wife's car. Chit and my daughters will also be driving soon. Anyway long story, short he wants a bit more go out of the 200 if I can get it. So, what can I do to pep up the 200? All ideas are very welcome but remember, this is a budget deal. Thanks guys.
