Comet GT 302

I have inherited a 72 Comet GT with a 302 in it, and it is missing a pulley which I assume fits over the water pump, it doesn't have power steering or air conditioning, and ever 302 pulley that I try to put in it doesn't line up right with the crankshaft and alternator pulleys, could someone please explain why this could be.
