: I have a '73 Maverick, an '80 Versailles(does not run), and a wrecked '88 Thunderbird Turbo Coupe. Does anyone know if the 8.8" rear out of the T-bird (has disc brakes and posi) will swap into a Maverick as easily as the Versaille 9"? I would go look and measure, but the Versailles and T-bird are about 100 miles away.

If the T-bird has coil springs in the back you will have to weld on new Leaf spring braces to get it to hook up to the Maverick suspension. Not to mention the 8.8 probably isn't as strong as the 9inch. Also changing the gears and getting parts will be easier for the 9inch Versailles rear end. I hope this helps a little.
