If you don't have access to the proper equipment, or at least the cheapest equipment...then one shouldn't paint a car themselves and expect it to last. One would be better off taking it to Maaco or Earl Sheib and getting a paint job. These are by far not the best places to get a car painted...but they beat the "spray bomb" jobs. Before you take it there, do all the legwork ahead of time. Removing anything that you don't want paint on...trim, turn signals, door handles, etc. Sand the car before you take it down there...so when they do a "scuff and shoot"...more of the paint will stick. By doing the little things, you can actually get a respectable $199 paint job that will last a few years.....versus a paint can job that will last a few months.
My 4 cents
