Naw way! They do have that low of a range. 300's were not just in trucks but Lincolns too. Check out clifford performance. There range is lower but not that low. With the proper intake manifold and carbueration they ring up to high rpm's rather well. I've seen 300's run 12's and 11's all motor...but true, not my choice for the drag strip. I would pick a DOHC modular 5.0. 480 horsepower out of the box. Just saying they do have their advantages and disadvantages over the 302.
