: We as maverick owners can set the value of a Maverick at what ever we choose. I have a '73 four door (the lowest of the low) in show room condition. I probably have $5000.00 in the car spent on parts alone.

: I know that none of you will givew me more that a few hundred for the parts value alone. The value of these cars is what we set them to be! We can be smart, or we can be SHMUCKS! It's up to us!

The value of the car is what it's worth to YOU. In my humble opinion, unless you're planning on selling a car for profit, the market value shouldn't be a huge concern. Unless it's your only car, just treat the spending you do as your discretionary spending. In other words, don't sell the farm to restore you Maverick, but spend what you can afford for non-essentials. Fix your car up and enjoy it. Don't worry about what its "market value" is or what other people think.

By the way, I posted a list of current market prices from a recent old car price guide. I believe someone was posting it here under the FAQ section, so you shouldn't have too much trouble finding it. The gory details are all there, but in short, the Maverick and Comet, if properly equipped, is worth more than you may think.
