I hope that there's a happy ending to your story Tom, because I have a new set of these springs sitting in my basement since winter, awaiting installation. I went with these because I'd heard positive things about their use from guys on this board, although I can't recall who. Mine bear the same numbers as you do and comparing them to my old springs confirms the differences you describe. I'm not sure the inch shift in position will be such a big deal for me since I have to custom build a driveshaft for my car anyway, but maybe someone else out there can address these concerns from a position of experience. Good luck (to both of us!) John B.
: ok guys here go's! I bought a set of springs from JC Whitney,stk.No.97ly7891rf,I got them on the 28th of march, just been sitting untill this last week, asked a friend of My son to put them in for me,well he take the car all day and then comes back and charged me $75.00 and no springs installed ,said they were the wrong ones,so not his fault,I pay Him and an POed,so I measure them and I say these are the right springs. So I get under the car Yesterday and drop the rear and pull the springs off and install one new one,It bolts right up to the spring hanger and rear shackle, however the locateing dowel is 1" off, there is no way that this spring will work!
: the springs came from JR Spring Service in Warren MI,there stock # is 42-717-269-B.
: Has anyone had this problem before?
