Use your block. it is much stronger than the new thin wall casting blocks that they use in the newer 5.0's. the only reason to use a differnt block is A, your block is worn more than .040", B you really want to use a roller cam ( which they acually do sell for the old block , or C, you plan to juice the heck out of your motor ( NOS, boost, etc) in wich case you do not want to use either block, you will want to step up to a SVO style block ( old A4 block, new M6010-R302 block ). if you use that block you can take it .125 over!! ( 380 cid ) but realisticly the CHP kit is not meant to make that kind of power. ( and you can usebe fixing up my mav.. i was wondering this..... I want to use the 302 block, but stroke it to a 331 from CHP i saw in a recent Mustang & Ford magazine. MY QUESTION IS!!!.... can i use the stock block (74, 302v8, 85K miles on it) or should i get a newer one? i'm wondering on this, cuz when you stroke the block you have to bore it out anyway, so if the current block is semi worn it shouldn't matter right?? can you guyz help me out with this??? THANKX!!
