: Buy a new master cylinder instead of a rebuilt. You'll have to ask for one. The reason is that these cars are so old that the master cylinders have sometimes been rebuilt several times and are just plain worn out. You can keep trying rebuilts until you get a 'good' one, or you can get a new one and be sure. I had 2 master cylinders go bad in about a year before I went the new route. -CP
