O.K. The title would not be "fake"...it would be a "real" title from another state. Did I say it was legal.....no. Did I say I could get away with it..........no. Could I go to jail and be sodomized by a big brute named Jumbo......yes.
Am I filing for a "lost" title.....no. Am I presenting the BWV with a fake bill of sale......yes. In some states, is a bill of sale enough to get a legal title with.....yes. Do I need the old title......no.
Can I do this in any state.........no. Is it a legal title......you betcha. Am I nuts......probably.

: Ok , say you get my VIN and you get a fake title, now you have to come find my car, and if you say I stole the car from u then all I have to do it show the police my registration slip, and btw , lost title only goes for cars that are not currently registered, which my car is registered. If my car is registered and I lost my title for re-registration then I need to show ID(drivers license) to prove I am owner. Now say you dont want to come get my car after you get a fake title, then that means you have to either make a fake metal or sticker tag along with putting it on another car(usually stolen car), but then if you try registering that car in my state , the DMV won't let you because another car(my car) is already registered with that VIN.Now, if you did get a fake title, along with stealing my car, I could call the poilce because my title is on the DMV's records and yours wouldn't be, and finally why steal a Maverick? My point is , giving out your VIN isn't that dangerous because you need a car to go with it.I am siding with TOM.
