4.56 gears are to deep for your cam, you'll run out of rpms before you reach the end on a 1/4 mile track, 1/8 they'll work. 3.55s would probably better. If you're going to have a special third member "just for racing", go with a spool. lighter and stronger. Just don't run it on the street or you'll break your axles.
put a good shift kit in your trans if you have a auto. Go to 225/60s and watch your thread pattern, run about 24 lbs air in them and undo the front sway bar, "only at the track". what's your timing set at?

: I finally got in the high 15s last weekend, so my goal has been set. (15.942
: at 86.54 mph). I just added a old chrome Accell coil and I put the pertronic
: in tomorrow night, then back to the track to see what kind (if any) of
: difference it will make. Saturday morning will be fun, I install my new
: cam, intake and carb. I got a new 288 duration .460 lift cam and a Weiand
: Action+ intake along with a rebuild holley 4160 (600 cfm). I'll bet I'll
: need bigger tires then 195-70-14s on the damned thing now. I still need
: some gears but I now have a plan. I figure on keeping my 2.75 open diff
: for everyday driving and getting a 4.62 with a minispool to run at the track
: (now that I'm running brackets every weekend). Anybody happen to have
: anything like that laying around you no longer use??? It's 1/8 mile for
: the brackets (I run 1/4 Fridays for test and tune).
