Good advise. If I'd have known about some of the stroker kits out there, I doubt I would have put the $$$ into my 302, which I hope to have together (FINALLY) this weekend. Including the machine work, I've got about $1600.00, and a shit load of aggrivation from a machine shop in my 302. A 427 stroker kit I saw in Super Ford (I think) was about $1500.00, un-assembled or $2800.00 assembled. I beleive these prices included the block. With a big block conversion you are looking at that for just the suspension kit (if you buy new, Mustang II's are getting hard to come by where I live).
: If you bore and stroke a 351W you can get a small block 427 into your Maverick without cutting the shock towers. BTW it will not take any modification to the suspension or the chassy. And you can get parts for it cheaper than the big block. And it will probably make more HP and spin up a lot faster than the big block. Good Luck.......

: : My question is, can it been done? I have a sweet 71 Grabber, probably
: : one of the nicest I've seen and I want to really make it run. I'm no
: : stranger to going fast but have very little experiance with Mavericks
: : and or fords for that matter. Most people run 302's but I want to be
: : able to squeeze in a bigblock 428cj. I though maybe someone made a kit
: : or maybe some one has seen it done before. I realize the narrow shock
: : towers make it impossible but is their any way?
