I like that, dare to be different. Go with the big block, you'll be the envy of everyone.
As Ford Country said go with the Mustang II, frontend, especially the rack & pinion. it will reduce weight and give you room. Then go with coil over front shocks. This way you can move the shocks out a little and remove the spring towers for room. Use the alunimum intake manifold and heads and you'll bring the weight of the engine down to around 500lbs, 302 weights about 450.
