Your rear end can shift at 3 differant points. After so many years it's a good idea to have a front and rear alignment, most alignment shops can fix this with spring bushings or sometimes spring replacement. Setting front tire caster, camber and tow is VERY important for proper tire wear. You have a good friend, if he has the equipment and can do your alignment let him.

: Where would the rearend shift at. It can't move, there are pins holding it in place on the springs. The only place I could see it moving is if the leaf spring bushings were worn out.
