: First off, I think this message board is great. Anyway, Since it is so hard
: to put a Big block in a Maverick. Then which Small block is the to go with. I
: want my mav to run fast on a street motor. I was thinking of the ford 392ci
: stroker crate engine featured in car craft a few month back. Will the 351W engine
: fit nicely in a 71 Maverick. OR should I just use a 302 and stroke it to 355 and run the
: same GT40x heads? I just want to have good info before I stuffing that 392Ci engine under the
: hood of my car. Any info will be appreciated. Thanks, Dan

dan,
i tread lightly on this board. before attempting to answer the question, i would ask you "how do you intend to use your car?" how much money do you have to spend? and how is your car equipped now?
is it mainly for race purposes or will you and the wife both drive the car? these are all pertainent questions.
ive said it before and will stand by it.. a 302 in a maverick is a potent package. you dont have to get fancy to fly in one of these cars.
however, i can certainly appreciate the idea of a 347 stroker maverick with GT40 heads.
but the bottom line is......
"speed costs... how fast do you want to go?"
