: I used my original 73 block. I used a pair of 351W heads of off a 70 Galaxie. The kit came with the crank, rods, pistons, rings, bearings basically the whole short block minus the block. My machine shop bill came to about $1000. That was for balacing, bore and hone, line bore, install the thing that keeps the roller rockers straight, notch the block where necessary and assemnle the short block. they also converted the heads to screw in studs, valve job, new valve guides and smooth the bump out of the exhaust port, and install the Lunati roller cam and spring and lifter kit. The short block cost a bit over $2000 without cam and lifters. My complete long block cost over $4000. I know a guy running a 347 in a Fuel injected Mustang and it seems to work fine. He has the mass air and some other bolt-ons and it hauls ass. If you are going to do this you might as well bump up the compression and get a bigger cam or you will wish you would have later.

: : What year block and heads did you use for the stroker motor? and what was the cost (rough estimate) for the short block (machine work, rods, crank etc)? I won't be doing this in the near future, but, I am considering a 347 myself. I don't want to run a lot of compression or a crazy cam just wanted more cubes without the increase in external "size". By the way, this will eventually be a mass air injected motor and I don't know if the 5.0 injection system could keep up with the 347. Any ideas anyone?
