this subject made the rounds in the ford falcon circles. im not sure how it applies to the maverick, but could be the same.
it can be done, but the AOD is physically larger and cutting on or modification to the transmission tunnels had to be done to install in a falcon. from what i understand there are a few other quarks to making this adaptation. (namely shifter linkage, but i think there are several others) i will do some research and report my findings as time allows.
bear in mind, my info comes from the falcon community, but i doubt there is much difference.
