JUST FIXED MY 74 COMET W/ SAME PROBLEM, ON DRIVERS SIDE OF FUEL TANK (RUN GAS OUT TO ALMOST EMPTY) YOULL SEE A ROUND FITTING (3 INCH) W/ A FUEL HOSE AND TWO PRONG ELECTRICAL CONNECTION, REMOVE BOTH AND REMOVE RETAINER RING W/ SCREWDRIVER OR LARGE PLIERS BY TAPPING IT (R OR L?) THEN REMOVE SENDER AND FLOAT ASSEMBLY, PUT A RAG IN HOLE TO LIMIT FUMES, BE CAREFUL NO SPARKS!!!! NOW HOOK UP THE ELECTRICAL CONN. AND MOVE FLOAT, SEE IF GUAGE WORKS, MINE DID. THE BRASS FLOAT HAD A HOLE AND HAD FILLED UP W/ GAS, I DRAINED IT AND SOLDERED UP HOLE, IT NOW WORKS FINE.. : My fuel gauge on my 77 Comet does not work.
: The needle just stays on E. I think it may
: be my sending unit, but I don't know where
: it is, or how to get at it. My engine is a
: 250 ci. Can anybody help.
