Help, I was driving my car into the garage and when I went to shift it into
park my shifter wouldn't move. I finally got it in but decided to take the knob
off and try to fix the problem. Let me just say that I had thought of
changing the shifter knob anyway but I got the d*#MN thing off and found that the
round tubular piece that slips into the actual shifter head was broken
it is made of plastic and go figure. But the problem is that I can not shift
the car out of park without taking the knob completely off and manually taking
pulling the little metal thing that I guess releases the locking mechanism
and putting it into gear. Now my question is do I need just a new shift
knob or do I need a whole new shifting kit? If just the knob will one work
from like AutoZone or Pepboys? Thanks.
