The Cobra engine was a 427, not a 429. You'd be better off with a 5.0 or 351W unless you like to cut out shock towers. I do not pretend to know all of the particulars of the swap, but, it looks to be a ton of work. If you do decide to go that route, then I'd think (not sure) that a Mustang II/Pinto suspension would be a must. It can and has been done and may be worth it to you to do. Just depends on what you want with your car and how much work you want to do...

Good luck either way!!!

: In the classifieds of my local newspaper, some one was selling a rebuilt 429 cubic inch big block V-8 for 900 dollars. It needed head work, but thats about it I think. It also came with a C6 transmission. Unless I am mistaken, that engine is the same one they have in the old Shelby Cobra. I was just wondering if I could fit it inside my Maverick? If it could, then I would get it instead of the 5.0L Mustang engine. But it sounds a little crazy, and I'll need much better brakes.
: Thanks!
