:Brian, you might go looking for a AOD TV rod, from some of the earlier cars, T-birds, Crown Vics and use that instead of the cable.
The big problem most people have with a AOD over a downshift rod is they think the AOD cable/rod is the same as a downshift rod, it's not, what it does is adjust the trans fluid pressure for the amount of gas pedal that you're using. It's a pressure adjustment that you can do trail and error, or use a 300 psi gauge to adjust it. I've seen both work. The easiest way to explain it is to get a 84 Crown Vic, manual on the AOD and use that info. You have to use a feeler gauge to do it. I have one on my 650 Holley carb by using the Holley downshift adapter rod for the primary butterflies. just have to make a few adjustments.
AOD is a good trans. the later in the years the better, early ones have some real problems and van, truck ones have some of the stronger parts already in them.

Does anyone have any info on putting an AOD in a Maverick? I am putting in a '94 HO 302 that has been converted to carburetion. I have two AOD's fro a '89 and '91 5.0 Mustang with converter, flexplate and shifter. The main thing I'm wondering about is the throttle valve cable which controls the line pressure, shift points, shift feel, part throttle downshifts, and detent downshifts. Anyone have any experience installing one? Thanks!
