: How would you like a complete option list for your Maverick, along with its date of production?
: I found out (by reading Mustang Monthly) that Ford'll give it to you. Just call the Ford Customer Assistance Center (CAC) and request a "History 999" report for your car. You'll need the VIN#. In about a month, they'll send you a letter containing your VIN breakdown and your option list. They even send it on a nice, frameable FordMotorCo letterhead. I did this about 6 weeks ago and got mine back. Here's the contents of the letter:

: ----------------------------------------------------------

: Dear Mr. Ping,

: Thank you for your recent contact with the Customer Assistance Center.

: You asked the CAC to provide you with the original specifications and optional equipment for your vehicle. Your VIN number (0X91L338595) decodes as follows:

: 0 1970 Model year
: X St. Thomas Assembly Plant
: 91 Ford Maverick 2-door Hardtop Sedan
: L 250 CID 6-cyl IV Gasoline Engine
: 338595 Consectutive unit number

: This vehicle was produced 04/07/70, with the following options:

: Calypso Coral Exterior Paint Color
: Black Vinyl & Vinyl Bench Seats
: Automatic Transmission XP Type
: Conventional 3.08 Rear Axle
: D70 x 14 Fiberglass Belted Wide Oval White Side Wall Tires
: Manual Air Conditioning
: AM Radio
: Complete Tinted Glass
: Left-Hand Remote & Right Hand Racing Mirrord

: I Hope this info proves helpful,

: Sincerely,

: Steven Kim
: Research Unit Rep
: Customer Assistance Center

: ------------------------------------------------------------

: Since my car is a 1970 Grabber, I had hoped the options would list that. They did not, but they did state that my car came with racing mirrors, Black all-vinyl interior, D70 x 14 tires, all standard on Grabber. I think the mirrors were only availible on the Grabber, but not sure. Anyway, I think it proves the car was a Grabber, as Vermillion (Calypso Coral) was also a Grabber color in 1970.
: It's cool that Ford did this for free. My letter even came from Canada since my car was built there.

: Call 1-800-392-3673, be prepared with your VIN #, to get this report.
: Not sure about their hours, just call and see.
: -CP
