Float level is too low...

...You don't mention the engine/carb, but I suspect it's six w/ the Carter YF(they call me Kreskin...LOL). Those carbs have the jet located where a left turn will slosh gas away from it. That causes the hiccup. It would be especially bad pulling out of a driveway where the car bounces a little. Of course, heat-soak combined with the low float level will cause the gas to bubble off, leading to hot-start problems. Did the problem pop up right after the rebuild?
