:TParker pretty much cover it all, you can go manual brakes if you want to. Might try that first before you go to the power brakes. You also might what to check the crank pulley size. If it's bigger then your's use it also , it will drive the PS pump fisrter at idle, which is when you need it the most.
Also with the electronic ignition you'll have to open your plug gap up to .040 to .045" Electronic give you a better spark with that gap.
: I have a good cond '73 maverick with a 250. The only problem is it has manual
: drums and manual steering. I bought another maverick a '77 4 door for $100 to use as
: parts. I plan on swapping over the power steering, power disk brakes and electronic
: ignition.
: Has anybody done this before? As far as the steering goes I am sure I need to
: change the gearbox, and some steering linkages to accomodate the slave cyl and of
: course the ps pump and related brackets but will I need to change anything else? Maybe
: the steering column, spindles idler arm?
: As for the power disk brakes, do I need to change over the spindles or can
: I simply replace the drum backing plates with the caliper mounts and then remount the
: rotors and swap the booster, master cyl. etc. etc without removing any ball joints?
: The electronic ignition seems like a fairly simple swap and shouldn't be too
: much trouble. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
