I weighed my '72 Grabber w/ 302, c-4, 15x8 steel wheels, full fluids, and a full 16gal tank on a certified truck scale and it weighs 3150lbs. with out me in it. So I think most Maverick with 302's should weigh about the same plus or minus 100-200lbs.
No experiance with cutting the shock towers but have seen it done and it looks like you can only take out about 1" on each side. But you do not have to do this if you are going to put in a 351 Windsor. The Windsor will fit but changing the plugs is going to be tuff, most all of the Mavericks I've seen with a Windsor in them the owners all complained about changing the plugs. Hope this help.

: i have a 1972 maverick coupe it had a 302 c-4 tranny in it i would like to know if anybody would know how much it weights?Another question is has anyone on the board ever trimmed the shock towers for better clearance for headers with a 351w? i have 302 with a/c springs to put in it because the front springs sag pretty bad with the heavier 351w will it sag like it dose with the old 302 springs?I was told that the 351 is only about60lbs heavier than the 302? please help
