: might be several things, so you need to elimenate the possibles, and make sure your solinoid has got a good ground to the body with no rust, that'll screw it up. and check your cables and clamps for breakage and corrosion that'll make it FUBAR also.
1. bypass the ignition switch by jumping the solinoid from the positive side to the starter switch terminal, little one next to battery cable, it turns then the solinoid and starter is good, switch or wires are bad. it doesn't turn, starter is bad, test starter next.
2. still don't turn, disconnect the cable to the solinoid and touch it to the battery positive cable side of the solinoid, it doesn't turn, starter bad, it turns solinoid bad.
3. don't beat on starter , doesn't help or solve anything, starters work on electricy not hammer method.

I'm pretty damn frustrated at the moment. Old Faithful has decided not to start. My daily-driver Mav, which has never failed me since I've owned it and was just sold and to be delivered this weekend, won't turn over. I had to jump my truck with it earlier and I had it running while I did it. When I was done I shut the Mav off and when I went to move it later, nothing, not even clicking. I tested the battery and it reads 12.67 volts. When I hook it up to a charger or try to jump it, it makes a clicking noise like there is a loose connection. Checked all connections, all good. Tested the battery with two different voltmeters, both the same. The only thing I can think of is maybe the starter relay or possibly even the control module, but when the control module goes you usually don't even get a clicking noise, do you? Anyway, just thought I'd get some more opinions before I start buying parts. Thanks in advance. Tim
