The best way is to use the intake/exhaust gaskets as your guide to how far to cut them out to. don't go any deeper then 1" into the ports.
As far as the chamber side. just grind down the ridges under the valve seats and round off the edges of the valve guides. any more then that and you might find your water jackets.
You really need to know how deep you can grind when you start getting in past the 1" point.

I'm looking for all information pertaining to head porting. I've looked in to Extrude Honing, but haven't called to check the pricing. I have a second set of 289 heads with chevy 194's and 160's. Anyone have suggestions/website for porting kits? Just need to clean them up.
