: I had a similar problem with my mav about 21 years ago. I installed a new cam and chain, also added headers. Every time I would try to fire it up it would run for an instant and die. I wanted to kill it!! Finally i determined that I had a BAD intake manifold vacuum leak. I then proceeded to go thru about 5 other sets of intake gaskets to get it to seal. Even then when I fired it, it wanted to die but i just mashed the pedal to the floor and broke the cam in real good. lol,, but it never has done that again since.
: I've been trying to get my '73 maverick running right. I have a starting problem. The car will fire, run for a couple seconds and then just die. I rebuilt the head and cheked all valves etc., swapped carbs, checked fuel flow from the tank all the way to the carb, replaced the fuel pump checked spark, replaced plug wires, replaced plugs checked point gap changed coil. and the damn thing still wont run.
