At the present my Mav is in the same condition it was the day it started down the assembly line after coming out of the metal shop. Anything that wasn't welded on has been removed. As I ponder re-assembling the beast as a like-new "resto-mod" I am asking myself questions about how far to go, money wise, on this project. with the car in this condition it would be nice to start re-assembling it with every wish-list item possible. Maybe you've built your car in your dreams too. It may have had a P.S.T. super rebuild kit, all new weather stripping, FlowMasters, a Versailles diff with TracLoc, etc., etc. I'd love to be able to do that. I doubt that I will ever have this car this far apart again. On the other hand , realitically I can't afford it. I am looking for some input from you all as to what you strongly recommend as essential upgrades to do at this point. Momentarily I am thinking about the front-end. The full P.S.T. polygraphite treatment would be nice, but maybe there are certain pieces in particular that should be polygraphite, whereas others don't matter so much? Or maybe you know of a close second to using this product? What about the steering box---is there one I can swap in for that tighter, better road-feel, quicker response we like on the newer cars (and maybe take off the power steering or go to a set up that's more of an "assist"?). Any other areas you wish to comment on (i.e. suggestions for realistic upgrades) are welcome and would be appreciated. This board has been such a help. Thanks to all of you for your help over the past year. I'm sure I'll be needing lots more of your wisdom as I start to put it back together again. I can't wait! Thanks again. John B.
