11" disks off of a doner granada from a junk yard it will not cost you that much. I bought mine on one of the u-pull-it 1/2 off days that they have about once a month. Then entire swap cost me less $75 ( if that) Some might question what needs to be rebuild etc but if you a carefull when you get the parts to make sure that they are in good shape ( rotor not gouged etc) The only stuff you will have to replace is the brake pads which are very cheep and new ball joints. If you are going through all the hassle to pull things off you might as well upgrade. I was going to comment that one problem you might run into with replacing one drum is that it might not stop evenly then I remembered...even new these front drum cars did not stop evenly. If anyone knows if a 71 comet gt front drum is the same you can have one of mine. You will have to pay the shipping etc. I am a full time student also so I know how it goes.
As always I hope that this exesive rambling helps

: : J.C. Whitney has the best deal on rear springs...They also have sway-bars; The bar has to be for a Maverick/Comet..others will NOT interchange. ..7/8" was a rare option fot these cars. Not sure on the drums, but again your best bet is a Maverick donor car...$90 is EXPENSIVE for a drum...you could get TWO rotors for that price. Of course you'd need calipers & spindles as well, but a swap to disc brakes would be ideal...

: : : what car can i get a 74 comet front drum from? one of mine is bad, new they are $90 and i'm trying to avoid that.
: : : also, the sway bar, can i get one from another car that will work without modification? it currently has the thin (3/4?) one. i guess i would be loking for a 7/8". it's a 250 engine by the way.
: : : one last thing, the rear leaf springs are really sagging, what's the best deal for replacing these? i'm a student so limited budget.
