: the bubbling is actually foam from the fluid level to high. several ways to drop the trany fluid level.
1. slowly unbolt the pan and let it drain out,
2. my favorite, disconnect the cooling line at the trans cooler end, disconnect the coil wire so the engine won't start, and using a hose on the line into a jug, crank the engine over for a little while (20 sec.)
Reconnect the line and test operate the trans for a few minutes and check your level. do it again until you get it where you want it.
The shifts are probably due to the fluid foaming. It didn't hurt the fluid, just has air in it.

Well, i did my "i'm really bored" car inspection today, and i realized that i have WAY too much tranny fluid. What's the quickest way to dump a controllable amount of fluid? Also, when i check it as required (engine running and in park, warmed up) the fluid is very bubbly...is that a bad sign, or normal? The transmission has a very hard jerk from 1st-2nd...(due to altitude, i believe).
