My 72 Grabber came with a Factory Floor shift. There was a special plate that mounts to the hump in the floor to accept the floor shift. You might be able to get by without it as others have....just thought you might want to know.

: Hi , as some of you may know I am converting my 70 Maverick to a 302 car.I just got my Hedman headers lastnight and installed them today , it said on instuctions that I would have too raise the left side of the engine 2 inches to install them , but I did a little wiggling and the went in without raising it.Got both sides on and in their position in 10 min. Now I figured everything was downhill, till now. These headers definitely do not work with a colomn shifter at all (C4 auto trans.), so I need help installing a floor shifter. Now , question 1: where do I position the shifter body over the trans.? And question 2: I now need another nuetral safety switch , I have one that fits directly on the trans. and was wondering where and how do I get the connector into the car so I can connect it to the original colomn connector? Thanks
