Yeah, probably the easiest way is to remove the cluster (or partially remove it). Just two screws in the top then lean it forward and pull up to clear the bottom clips. If you have a column shifter, it takes a bit of doing to wiggle around the shifter/gear indicator on top of the column (unless you unbolt the column and drop it a bit). Other thing is be careful with the Speedo cable if you pull it out that far. The couplers are easy to break. If you need to pull the speedo cable, it comes off pretty easy. The coupler is oval-shaped, with one straight side. Squeeze it along that side and pull gently and it should pull right out. After that, it's just a simple matter of plugging in a bulb. Sorry if this is overkill, but you said it was your first FoMoCo, so I just thought better to say too much than too little. Good luck and happy contorting.
